Join us for an evening of of sound, video and performance. Big Mars Energy is an exploration into the energetics of Mars and all its associations.
Ziah Ziah, Geoffrey Papin, Francesca Ter-Berg and Cherelle Sappleton will take you on an immersive musical journey with artworks by James Tuitt and costume by Alexandra Mann in a world built by Ziah Ziah.Francesca will be bringing her cello and live electronics to create an ambient bed of sonic experimentation and for this performance, Cherelle will be bringing her Sun Gong and Crustal Singing Bowls. Geoffrey Papin will improvise with his 80’s drum machines and synths, bringing Ziah Ziah productions to a more minimal but not less dramatic level, in an immersive experience using a surrounding sound system.

Exploring the ungraspable darkness and euphoria of the human experience, Ziah Ziah looks to connect through raw live energy and a pop sensibility that feels familiar yet unique.
Their world of drama that exists within each of us, searches for something beyond the surface.
With throbbing bass from iconic 80’s analogue synths, ethereal string arrangements, and a voice with harmonies that echo something of a futuristic past, they demand to take you on a journey.
Charelle Sappleton
Cherelle Sappleton is an award-winning British-Caribbean interdisciplinary artist based in Ramsgate (UK), working across collage, photography, sound and installation. One half of ambient, experimental band, PAL and a trained Sound Therapist, she uses music, movement and sound to tune into emotional states, a process which directs and informs her creative practice.
After earning an MA in Fine Art from the Central Saint Martins College of Arts in (2013), Sappleton was awarded the Denton’s Prize (2017). Her work has been exhibited both in the UK and internationally, In addition to her exhibitions, Sappleton has been commissioned to create work for a variety of institutions and organisations, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, the National Trust, Hospital Rooms and the National Theatre. Sappleton's work is held in public and private collections, including the Soho House Art Collection. Her work was recently featured in Phaidon’s recent publication Vitamin C+: Collage in Contemporary Art (2023).
Francesca Ter-Berg
Francesca is a cellist and composer known for her unique style which blends Klezmer, Improvisation and electronic synthesis. Her debut EP (Phantom Limb Label achieved Best Experimental Music on Bandcamp + Quietus Best Releases of 2021). Francesca writes for film and TV, regularly tours with her critically acclaimed duo Fran & Flora and collaborates with Imogen Heap, Tom Skinner, Portico Quartet and Ziah Ziah. Commissions include the Turner Contemporary and Margate NOW Festival.
James Tuitt
London-based artist gathering influences from rave culture, fashion photography, metaphysical art and post-modern design; Tuitt uses paint to depict imagined spaces both familiar and surreal, inhabited by black models found within his hefty collection of fashion magazines.
